I ran a small cat rescue out of my house in Tennessee for twenty years. The old cats were the ones nobody adopted, so they stayed with me. I fed them, sat up with them and buried more than I like to think about. Along the way I learned what an old cat will eat and what she will walk away from. My vet taught me a great deal. The cats taught me the rest.

I'm not a vet, and this book never pretends I am. It's what I did every day, written down plainly, with the amounts and the order I did things in. Where something is a job for your vet, I say so. That is my promise to you.

Is this a printed book you mail me?
No, and I want you to know that before you spend a dollar. It is a PDF: a file you open on your phone, your tablet or your computer the moment you pay. Nothing arrives in the mail. You can print any page you like at home. I keep the rotation page taped inside my kitchen cabinet.
My cat is so picky. Will this work for her?
That's the first thing the book deals with, because the food only helps if she eats it. The picky-cat part comes before any food list. It has the steps I used at the rescue, in order, and how slow to go. Some cats come around in days and some take weeks. I'll be honest: a few never take to certain foods, and I tell you what to do then.
Do I need special foods or supplements?
No. Nearly everything in this book is already at your grocery store or in your kitchen. Plain cooked chicken, eggs, a tin of sardines, good wet food and fresh water. If your cat is on a special diet from your vet, keep to it, and take the book along to your next visit so you can go through it together.
Are you a vet?
No, and I never will pretend to be. I ran a small cat rescue for twenty years and nursed a great many old cats, always with my vet. If your cat is already sick, with kidney trouble, diabetes or anything else, go slow and check every change with your vet first. The book tells you plainly when to stop reading and call.
